Hannibal-LaGrange is an intimate and highly accredited Christian university, with usually about 500 students enrolled per semester. The school offers more than 36 majors on the baccalaureate level and master's level courses in education, education administration and leadership, and several associate degrees.
Moberly Area Community College (MACC)
Moberly Area Community College provides over 40 areas of study to over 5,000 students from 5 campus across 16 counties. The Hannibal Campus was built in 2019 and offers in-seat and virtual learning to students in the Hannibal region.
Culver-Stockton College, located in just north of the Hannibal region in Canton, Missouri, sits on a 140-acre campus with about 1,000 total student enrollments. CSC offers over 80 majors and minors at a student-faculty ratio of 14 to 1.

Festivals
Drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, festivals are part of the Hannibal region’s culture!
- National Tom Sawyer Days - Celebrated over the 4th of July weekend, many Hannibal locals share memories of deep diving for the ball at a mud volleyball competition, cheering on their frog at the jumping contest or racing to finish first at the fence painting competition. And on the holiday afternoon, everyone awaits the decision at Central Park to name the new official Tom and Becky, two Hannibal youngsters (along with a group of ambassadors) who will stroll Hannibal streets and greet tourists. On the evening of the Fourth, a fireworks display lights up the Mississippi as the community watches on blankets, folding chairs or in truck beds around town.
- Hannibal Cannibal - Taking on the trek from Main Street to Lover’s Leap and beyond is a bragging right for many in Hannibal. Part of the 4th of July celebration, many train all year round in anticipation of the 15k, 10k, or 5k run, while others take it on as a walking challenge—giving all skill levels a chance participate.
- Folklife Festival - For one weekend in October, Hannibal’s Main Street takes a step back into the mid-1800s as artisans and craftspeople demonstrate trades and folk arts of a time gone by. For many the highlight of Folklife Festival is the food - From homemade pies, chicken and noodles, and cheese soup to hot fried goodies and more lining the streets, for just a few days Hannibal Main Street transforms into your grandma’s kitchen.
- Steampunk - The largest outdoor steampunk festival in the country, this four-day event celebrates Victorian inventions, industry and architecture of Hannibal’s Gilded Age. From Nerf and Tea Dueling, Costume Contests, Vaudeville Shows, Vendors, Workshops, there is something for everyone to enjoy at Steampunk.
- Taste of Palmyra - Palmyra’s Main Street is filled with eats, treats, entertainment, Trunk-or-Treat, crafts, a car and tractor show and more. This event is held the 3rd Monday in October.
- Twain on Main - In May, downtown Hannibal brings back the old West to celebrate the birthday of beloved author Mark Twain. From lasso lessons and other western-themed activities and fun shows and local food vendors, this festival is not one to miss.
- Other festivals include Harvest Hootenanny, Big River Comic Convention, Great Girlfriend’s Getaway Chocolate Extravaganza, Victorian Festival of Christmas, Living Dead Windows, and more!
