Hannibal, MO. – Corey Mehaffy, Executive Director of the Hannibal Regional Economic Development Council (HREDC) announced today that B Diamond Infra LLC is expected to begin weatherization work on the former MCM Savings facility located at 228 Broadway in Hannibal, MO. Mehaffy indicated that the initial scope of work will likely include some necessary repairs to the building envelope to secure and preserve the structure. The plan is to begin work on the roof, tuckpointing, window replacement, and cleaning the exterior.
According to Mehaffy, local officials are meeting regularly with the development group to discuss redevelopment plans. Mehaffy said, “In addition we are working with various partners to discuss potential programs that may be available to assist the project, including funding from the latest federal infrastructure package.”
In addition to completing the necessary weatherization repairs to secure the building envelope, the HREDC’s goal is to work with the new owner of the building to design a re-development plan and economic model. HREDC and the development group have solicited feedback from community stakeholders on potential uses for the facility. Mehaffy added, “It is important to find uses for the facility that will complement our downtown and enhance the overall appeal.”
According to representatives from B Diamond Infra LLC, exterior work is expected to begin soon.
“I would like to thank the B Diamond Infra LLC team for their acquisition of the property and willingness to consider making this investment in downtown Hannibal. We are excited to continue these discussions and bring this facility back into operation and contributing to the community”, said Mehaffy
